This is a poem that I wrote as a follow-up to the “Arcade” poem I posted a few weeks ago. If you don’t remember you need to go back and read it first. ( read them both slowly )
A Knife Left Unsharpened
- There is an arcade, that was clearly defined
- Like a knife finely sharpened, and highly refined
- At first finely crafted, only that was sure
- After purpose was found it’s function was pure
- Quickly slice anything, unwilling to tear
- Like a sail filling evenly, amidst a strong gust of air
- But when the wind let up, and the sail lowered to deck
- What then was the sail without it’s intent?
- Just a fabric on a deck, to near to the ledge
- Like a finely sharpened knife, that’s lost it’s edge
- Seeking new function the blade follows the light
- It has found only shade, and nothing to fight
- Nothing to cut, in a world of glass laws
- Left noticing it’s reflection, and staring at flaws
- But refusing to be flacid, or left on a shelf
- It pays no mind to this place, and sharpens itself
- It prepares for war, focused on plans
- To once again find the butchers hand.
